Commitment, dedication and sacrifices are all necessary in order to be competitive: Dimsport has always admired those people who go beyond the technical resources that support them and their background, exerting their energy on improving themselves, both in their jobs and on the track. Dimsport SpeedUP places the spotlight both on the great and the more modest sporting endeavours pursued by a number of athletes sponsored by the company in the field of motorsports. Within this context, we find drivers and riders of a range of different ages and experiences, in whose eyes Dimsport has glimpsed the 'fire' that is so crucial to beating the clock, their adversaries and ultimately themselves, in a continuous quest to improve their own performance.
Nicola Dutto embodies this fire and this drive – he is the first paraplegic motorcyclist in history to take part in the Paris-Dakar rally (Dutto has been paralysed from the waist down since an unfortunate incident in 2010 during a Baja race), supported by three ghost riders who are ready to put him back on his KTM 450 EXC-F every time he falls.
Piedmontese driver Luca Demarchi is another Dimsport SpeedUP trailblazer – after his experience in the European Le Mans Series, he returns to the Italian GT Championship (where he triumphed in 2016 in the GTCUP class), ready for a new challenge with the Antonelli Motorsport team, competing for the Endurance title in a Lamborghini Huracan Evo.
Meanwhile, Giacomo Gandino is the youngest of Dimsport’s sponsored athletes – a regional motocross champion, he is set to race in the FAST category this year, joining the ranks of the ‘big boys’ for the first time and riding in three Italian championship events on the KTM 250 SXF (exclusively entrusted to him by Alba’s Arena Cross team). And all without neglecting his university studies and his "academic" commitments – he is also a newly-qualified driving instructor!
Another twenty-year-old about to go stellar in the 'two-wheeler' sector is Kevin Sabatucci, a young rider from Ascoli who will take Dimsport onto the starting grid of the Superbike Supersport 300 championship, along with Team Trasimeno's Yamaha YZF-R3 bike: the first race is scheduled for 5 April in Aragon, Spain.
And elsewhere on Sunday, the ambitious Kawasaki ParkinGO Team – yet another to enjoy the support of Dimsport - is set to make its debut in the Supersport 300 World Championship, bringing three highly competitive riders onto the grid after winning second place last year: the Spaniard Manuel Gonzalez, the Australian Tom Edwards and Filippo Rovelli, confirmed once again. Expectations are high, particularly after the encouraging results at the "general trial" in the Italian CIV Championship, where Rovelli dominated the first two races at the Misano circuit.
Astonishing speed and performance can also be achieved on a 'natural' race track such as water: Dimsport has confirmed that it will be supporting the motorboat racing activities backed by Fabrizio Bocca. The former world champion will also be bringing the Dimsport brand to Formula 2 and a number of other international races, although the overarching goal for 2019 will be to nurture new young talent through the Rainbow Academy.
